IT Project Management is a 2 day course that will provide the student with the necessary tools to measure and monitor project progress effectively within the context of a project management methodology and a typical software development life cycle. Students will use a variety of tools and techniques to bring in a project scope as defined, on time, and on budget. Special attention is focused on communications skills and techniques for effectively sharing information for IT organizations whether internal or external to the performing organization’s structure.
1. Develop a scope and quality statement for IT projects
2. Describe the difference between a Project Management Methodology and an SDLC.
3. Develop a work breakdown structure for Software Development or IT infrastructure projects
4. Build a network diagram and Gantt chart for IT Projects
5. Develop a project budget
6. Determine appropriate time to set and change the project baseline
7. Develop a change control process as part of the project management plan
8. Develop effective business requirements
9. Measure project performance through evaluating project objectives
10. Utilize schedule compression tools in response to project events
11. Integrate contingency within project planning and re-planning
12. Develop effective business communications regarding project status
